I wrote the TRIO for Flute, Soprano Saxophone, and Piano for The Verismo Trio. They performed it around the U.S. and Brazil. I am honored that they included it in a superb performance on their recent “cloudServer” CD. You can also see a performance of the Third movement on Youtube. This is also available for download on Amazon (click here) and on iTunes (click here).
Review: “…very light, breezy and entertaining Trio by Dave Deason. There is a very nice jazzy vibe throughout the three movements that I quite enjoyed…..I think my favorite works here were those by Deason, Shrude and Bozicevic.” -Daniel Coombs, Audiophile Audition
My 2010 CD, “From Another Time” features myself at the piano, accompanied by a superb string ensemble on several tracks. All of the songs are original compositions.

Reviews:
“One of the reasons this album works so well is Dave’s strong background in classical music allows for richer layering of instrumental voices, never having the flat feel that even some of the “bigger” names in jazz have fallen into… Having done scoring work for the independent film From Kilimanjaro with Love (2008) has also inspired and left its mark on Dave, as the album has an overall cinematic feel to it, a tone poem for the celluloid age.” -Maxwell Chandler, The Jazz Police
“A welcome bit of an anachronism in its outlook in these times, From Another Time is a pleasant temporary escape from the ugliness of modern life that will please fans of jazz and classical piano.” -Brad Walseth, JazzChicago.net
“Dave Deason’s heartfelt program is a keeper, crossing over stylistic boundaries to create what is, in the best meaning of the phrase, beautiful music.” –Scott Yanow, Author of ten books including Swing, Jazz on Film, The Jazz Singers and Jazz on Record 1917-76
My 2003 CD, “Oregon Impressions” features the superb pianist Rhonda Rizzo.
I asked her to record the pieces for me. She has continued to perform them in concerts throughout the Northwest. She can be reached at rhondakrizzo@gmail.com. Rhonda also has an excellent blog called No Dead Guys where she performs music by living composers. Click here to check it out.

“This is a FANTASTIC recording! The music gives a sense of relaxed joy. The constantly shifting harmonies and lively rhythms conjure up visions of the beauty and past of the Great American West…This is easy listening in the best sense of the words!” -M.W.
“Ever since we obtained a CD of Oregon Impressions, we have always played it for our friends while cruising along the scenic highways winding through the stories depicted in the music ….The Oregon Impressions vivid collection now adds a new dimension to our awareness and appreciation of this land. Wonderful music. Superb performance. Wow, what a treat!” -Z.L.
Rhonda produced this CD, “A Spin On It”, which prominently features some of my pieces, along with those of several other American composers. It is a wonderful recording by a major performer of 20th-century composers.
